From the desk of Cheyenne

For my topics I chose to write about about three different things (yea, I got a little excited). My first topic is about school budget cuts and how students feel about them. I'm actually working with a partner for this one and I think we make a great team! I wanted to write about budget cuts and how they affect education because I know that in my county the budget cuts have affected the schools by teachers being let go and certain programs being let go. Also in my county they've shortened the school year by five days and we're off for a break every six weeks. I know most students would be happy with this but I'm actually deeply concerned that money issues are interfering with my education.

My second topic is about how social networking sites are taking away from actual human to human contact. I'm going to speak about how my generation is quicker to text someone versus call them or write them a letter. I'm going to pose the question "Has this generation's social skills declined or simply changed?". I'm working on this article by myself and really like it! I just want to send out the message that our generation can't become so wrapped up in technology that we don't even interact face to face anymore.

And lastly my third topic! This is a fun one that I'm working on with two other girls in sort of a news package. It's about chivalry and we're writing about it from the male and female perspective and also writing about how pop culture tends to set standards way too high (apparently every girl must look like Megan Fox and every guy must look like Taylor Lautner). I like this article b/c I've been interviewing people about their own personal views on chivalry.

Well I'm excited about my topics and hope that I can get them done! I'm really having fun though :)
